Service @ Trinity

Service at Trinity Church means being sent out to pay more attention to God’s world and the people around us.   Our mission is grounded in this work of service.

We Serve the poor:

Weekly members cook a breakfast for the homeless, sent to the Primavera Night Shelter

Monthly members prepare a dinner for Primavera, and 600 sandwiches for the Casa Maria program in South Tucson

Beginning January 2008, we will take a part in overnight sheltering of the homeless in the citywide Project Hospitality.

This Christmas, we assembled gift “socks” for the Primavera Shelter and migrant packs for the “No More Deaths” initiative.

We Serve the university community:

Five days a week, part of the Trinity Campus is opened to the students for quiet study.

Weekly on Sundays, a growing College group, The Cup, meets for study, fellowship, and service

This fall a cooking class for students on low budgets was offered (program to repeat in the Spring, 2008)

We have a growing sense of partnership with the Presbyterian Campus Ministry.

We Serve the neighborhood:

The West University neighborhood is truly unique in Tucson.  We’re glad for a growing friendship:

-         housing the neighborhood association’s office, beginning January 2008

-         hosting a variety of special and ongoing meetings/gatherings

-         holding an informal Neighborhood Christmas Eve service this year (Dec 24 at 5:00 pm)

-         leasing space to the Youth Empowerment Services organization, an umbrella group that brings administrative coordination to five different youth service agencies

-         participating as a member of the 4th Avenue Merchants Association, and taking part in the Street Fair twice a year!  We give out cups of water to thirsty patrons of the fair, provide a place to sit, rest, and enjoy some entertainment as well.
